Artist's Comments

I've been thinking I'd never be able to top my old Labyrinth Zone picture [link] so I decided to try something a little different this time. In particular I was really inspired by some of Sorata-s's [link] Sonic pictures (that's what drove me to draw it in the first place) and wanted to try something a little "softer." The main thing is that it went a lot faster when I knew I wasn't going to ink as much as I usually do. :)

At the same time, the dilemma of do I ink more or less? I love nice linework, but I also love sketchy pencils, and I love no lines at all.

One thing I didn't get in this picture is the sense of claustrophobia and the depth you can fall when fighting the Labyrinth Zone boss, there's still a lot of height but I don't think I suggested how precarious the situation was. You wouldn't even guess that the water is rising unless you knew from playing the game.

I love the perspective! I have no idea how you do these ;_; teach meee

You definitely made the zone look dimensional. Very nice!

This is beautifully and wonderfully done. As far as can remember, there isn't many pictures of Robotnik/Eggman in his classic look.

The background is also very well done.

It is great to know there is a friend that is always there.

That's pretty much the trick right there, just make the background dimensional! You have to treat it like it's as important as the characters, and even more three dimensional, like a diorama or something.

It's soo hard though *_* My brain gets stuck after I cant think of what else to add to make it less flat. That, and I need to work with perspective. It gets so wonked out a lot.

Oh Also, ever plan on doing Sonic CD inspired zones? I bet you could have a lot of fun with those :D

:giggle: I think it all depends on how you want the picture to look and what fits best for it.

The few to none linearts make for a more 3D feel, almost as if you were making concept art for it XD

but it does have its own sense of character which would end up being different if you were to do the same pic with the sketchy or the linearts on the entire thing. :)

All I can do is try...I just hope I do my best.

A nice rendition of the labyrinth boss :)
I like Sonic in the background and the whole zone looks great, nice job!

I wouldn't ask if I were you.

I hated that boss, it was barely a boss tho, more like you vs environment.

Days, these days go by, still I wonder why, I look up straight up to the sky~

It's not like this is even good perspective. I hate using a ruler, so I just eyeball it. ;)

I did one for Palmtree Panic [link] a while ago but I don't really like it anymore. XD I still haven't done Scrap Brain yet though, so I feel like I'd be cheating.... XD
